We've all grown up with these landmarks, so much so that perhaps we take them for granted. I'd rather my kids grow up in the shadow of an old chapel, with all the community history it represents, than grow up in the shadow of corregated-iron Tescos and such. Our country is slowly turning into one big out-of-town shopping center, with Barrat enclaves inbetween. Generic and horrible. I agree.
