The referendum you would wish on the issue would be a UK wide one and seeing as the majority of voters would be in England suerly that would be an unfair advantage to the other nations involved.
Why should we have to give an oath of allegiance to some one whose family only in the preceding years before her, changed their name from their German one to the very epitomisingly English one of Windsor. This because of the anti German feeling that was prelevent in the Country at the time.
Any way what is wrong with pledging allegiance to your electorate,we put them there.

If this is what a majority in parliament and the National Assembly wish, the question should be put the the voters as a referendum, in a democratic age it should be the voters that gives to their representatives their wishes on such an important issue as to an oath of allegiance.

Wholeheartedly agree that the oath should be changed, but we could start closer to home by changing the oath for Police Officers which is the same in England and Wales and makes reference to allegiance to the Queen. In Scotland and Northern Ireland the Police service have a more inclusive oath that makes no mention of the monarchy. Let’s campaign for similar in Wales.
