I've been blogging for 10 years this year (yikes), and you do go through phases of it. Thing is, if you feel compulsion to blog every day then it seems too much like work, and you'll feel resentment about it eventually. With blogs, the most significant factor is signal/noise. It's better to post a weekly, thought-out, intelligent blog than a daily mumbling fumbling, ultimately empty one. For your mini-updates there is always Twitter: it's easier to fill a 150 char box with than it is to fill a page with considered journalism. (Which is hard, even for full-time journalists.
